About Me

Hi, I'm Aleah!

I am a mother to two young boys and I know how important the birth experience is for other moms. 

When I first became pregnant, I took all the education courses and classes on how to become a good mom - not realizing I was already a good mom for educating myself. Having a traumatic birth myself is when my aspiration to become a doula began. I had a doula myself for my first child and she changed the way I imagined my birth was going to be. 

Despite the hardships in my birthing experience, she made me feel supported, heard, challenged and understood. 

My ultimate goal is the same for others, to feel the same way I felt during my childbirth experience. I want other moms to feel powerful, in control, and empowered. While birth can be unpredictable, I am a firm believer in informed choices and care. 

I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Indiana University in addition to currently obtaining a Master's Degree in Social Work with a concentration in trauma and family studies from Walden University. Upon graduation, I will be obtaining my licensure to provide maternal therapy. 

I hold years of professional experience in non-profit care where I assisted low-income mothers in obtaining resources, and providing non-medical maternal care in the form of emotional support as well as social support. I also have experience in working as a Mother/Baby and NICU social worker at the local hospital. Finally, I have experience working alongside foster care agencies and adoption coordinators. 

Previously, I was featured in the New York Tribune after a video of mine went viral on Tik Tok about the racial disparities in women's prenatal and postpartum care. I am a firm believer in racial equality and care for all. 

I hold a birth certification from DONA International.
